Welcome to Blackwell Concert Band.
The band was formed in 1998 when woodwind were invited into the Blackwell Brass Band to encourage further growth. Since these humble beginnings it has gone on to reach its current strength of around 70 players.
There are a wide range of players in the band of varying experience and calibre. The repertoire includes marches, jazz, calypso, blues, pop, rock, film scores and more.
Each year the band performs at local parks, garden centres, and boating as well as beer festivals. The band have raised to date over £15,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support, as well as helping other charities such as Royal British Legion on a regular basis.

The Blackwell Concert Band, based in Bromsgrove, have been proudly entertaining local audiences since 1998. With 70 talented members, the band performs a wide and varied repertoire of music at bandstands, concerts, charity events, and local fetes.
Under the leadership of Musical Director Jack Martin, the band have earned a reputation for excellence, delivering engaging, award-winning performances. The band have received multiple awards, including the prestigious Platinum Award at the National Concert Band Festival. Their passion for music was also showcased in their latest CD, Heroes Near and Far, released in 2022. The band are thrilled to return to the stage at Routh Hall and look forward to sharing another memorable performance with Stourport-on-Severn Brass Band.
Stourport-on-Severn Brass Band are a versatile and friendly brass band whose focus is to entertain their audiences, improve their ability as players and most of all have fun!
Since it's formation in 1969 SOS brass band has been entertaining audiences with a diverse programme of music to suit all musical tastes, from traditional brass band marches & classical music to fun arrangements of film music & pop songs.
Led by their conductor Oliver Wilson, the band won the 2023 Midlands area brass band contest and are a successful second section brass band. Most recently, the band claimed 3rd prize and Most Entertaining Band in the second section at the Wychavon Festival of Brass.

Join the band
Do you play a brass, percussion or woodwind instrument? Get in touch if you're interested in learning more. We welcome players of all standards and also have a training band for beginners.
We rehearse every Thursday evening from 7.30-9.30pm at Catshill Methodist Church Hall, Golden Cross Lane, Catshill.
Training band rehearses from 6.30-7.15pm.
